About

The Blue Peony Foundation was established at the beginning of the Ukrainian War in February 2022. We have a simple mission: We unite communities in assisting those in need, regardless of nationality, language, race, social status, beliefs or religion.

The Next Step project is the progression from a Donation Hub to a community hub where people can gather, whether it is to grab some much needed essential items, have a friendly conversation or do an art class. Through our community hub we aim to help the displaced Ukrainian people feel like they are a part of the Australian community, that they are welcome and belong here.
Five women, from various cultural backgrounds and nationalities, met on social media. We all felt compelled to take action and support displaced Ukrainians arriving in Australia. We are very proud of what we achieved in this short period of time, the support we have been getting and the relationships we formed with people.

Blue Peony Foundation works with over 30 volunteers and partners with various organisations, charities and entities to assist the displaced people of Ukraine to start a new life in Australia. To date, the foundation has addressed the needs of over 1000 displaced people from Ukraine providing clothing, bedding, personal hygiene items, food, technology items, language classes and much more.

The foundation assists new arrivals in finding employment, accommodation, and most importantly, connects them with the local community in Sydney. Through community events, many friendships and connections have been forged and continue to ease the suffering of many displaced Ukrainians.

For our work Blue Peony Foundation proudly received a 2022 NSW Humanitarian Award for refugee support.
