About
KYDS exists so that no young person will be without mental health support.
We provide free, independent and accessible mental health support to young people (up to the age of 19) across Northern Sydney. Conveniently located, and with no requirement for a doctor's referral or mental health care plan, we make it easy to get support, at a time when young people may feel they have nowhere to turn.
As well as early intervention through counselling, KYDS is committed to promoting mental wellbeing and the prevention of mental health difficulties in young people.
A team of passionate, qualified health professionals offer a range of services that ensure young people have a voice in the type of intervention they believe will work best for them, including individual counselling, family-based interventions, parenting work, group work and online or face-to-face wellbeing programs.
School workshops, presentations and webinars on a variety of topics from highly trained facilitators also form part of the KYDS service, supporting youth (and their families) through challenges they might be facing, helping to build resilience and achieve their potential.
In addition to creating meaningful connections, KYDS collects and analyses data to facilitate the continuous improvement of outcomes for young people and contribute valuable insights to the youth mental health sector and broader community.
Program donations fund:
KYDS does not receive ongoing government funding and relies heavily on community support to continue to provide free counselling to young people. $10000 will allow KYDS to provide more than 60 counselling sessions to help local young people get back on track. Specifically, these funds will help make up the shortfall following a reduction in funding from November. This existing funding has been instrumental in helping KYDS keep up with the steady rise in demand for our services, allowing us to provide barrier-free counselling support to an increased number of young people.
KYDS is transforming young lives through barrier-free mental health support, ensuring young people get the help they need, when they need it.
