The Nappy Collective

About

For almost a decade, The Nappy Collective has provided millions of unused nappies to families in crisis across Australia. We mobilise communities, raising funds and encouraging social change. Our goal is to grow The Nappy Collective’s impact in the community by delivering 1 million nappies annually to children experiencing nappy stress. We are the only Australian organisation focused exclusively on collecting and distributing nappies.

Our research reveals that about 280,000 children in Australia don't have enough nappies. This increases their risk of a range of physical, mental health, and social problems. Not being able to provide enough nappies for her child also increases a mother's risk of postnatal anxiety and depression. To support these children and their families, we run twice-yearly and year-round collections at Nappy Collection Points across Australia for donations of leftover, unused disposable nappies that may otherwise be thrown out. We redistribute these nappies through community partners to families who may have to choose between buying nappies or buying food because they're fleeing violence, seeking asylum, or struggling with homelessness, mental illness, extreme financial hardship or other disadvantage.

Program donations fund:

The Nappy Collective supports disadvantaged and vulnerable families to access free nappies. We mobilise communities through public nappy drives and redistribute unused, disposable nappies to families in crisis. We run collections at Nappy Collection Points for donations of leftover, unused disposable nappies that may otherwise be thrown out. We redistribute these nappies through community partners to families who may have to choose between buying nappies or buying food because they're fleeing violence, seeking asylum, or struggling with homelessness, mental illness, extreme financial hardship, or are victims of natural disasters such as the recent floods or other disadvantage. Donations may be new, opened packets, or lose nappies. Collection points are typically childcare, medical, and maternal health centres, and retail outlets.

Fundraising $10,000 will allow us to create more collection points around Sydney making it easier for families to donate their nappies and get more nappies to families in need.
